True, but I have all 5/8" and I see no advantage for me to go 3/4". I will be updating my table soon and will be sticking with 5/8" because that’s what tooling I have now.
For the little bit of medium duty stuff I do I can get by with 5/8"
I will say I like the 3/4" bolts much better then my 5/8" and might go 3/4 if I was just starting out.

I have a friend who has a laser table and will cut some steel for me in trade for some old jeep parts. I’m getting a new 1/2" sheet of steel and he’s going to cut a 2 inch grid pattern of 5/8" holes for me. I also placed an order with Fireball for some 5/8" fixtures,

I decided not to go with 3/4" since I don’t really think I need the higher strength and still want to be able to get commonly used fixtures and clamps. Plus I have some already.

I’m actually losing sleep that the holes are not going to be able to fit in some blocks with two pins in them like the fireball fence blocks, but that’s just the plasma table guy in me I think, I’m hoping laser will be much more accurate than what I’m used to, and I won’t have anything to worry about. It should be ready next week, and my Fireball order should be here on Monday.

I’ll post up with pictures.

You’ll definitely have to do a small amount of hole clean up. Keep us updated.

This seems crazy to me unless it’s purely a grinding table. It’s a lot faster to make two sides of something on a table with properly aligned holes. I even pinned a saw next to it and used the 4x1 blocks to rip a board since I don’t own a table saw. I wouldn’t have done it if the holes weren’t aligned correctly.
