Vises can be used to clamp onto things but clamps can not be used as a vise! Thoughts?
Yes to a vise being able to clamp, but no to a vise being a clamp. It can definitely do clamping action, but a clamp in my mind is a clamping tool that gets moved around a shop. They’re related but one’s not a category for the other. I suppose you could use a small vise as a clamp in a pinch tho.

In my mind, a vice is used to hold onto a single object for securing that object for working directly on it.
A clamp is used for holding two or more objects together for temporary adhesion until permanently joined by other means.

There has been times where i clamped a part then clamped the clamp to my table.
It was in this moment i realized vises will keep you from doing a clamp Trifecta.
