Hey, we’ve got a Vanguard 12H horizontal bandsaw we’re looking to sell locally. We bought it a few years ago after reportedly seeing it under power where we bought it, then could never figure out how to get it going here.
Its a 3 phase motor. I plugged it into the same power that successfully runs our big bandsaw, and there’s no signs of life. What do I check first?
Maybe check the motor nameplate to verify that the voltage you’re supplying is indeed correct? Then a meter to verify that’s what the motor is getting? Are there fuses on a disconnect mounted on the machine?

Sounds like a power issue. I suspect the plug is wired incorrectly for the new outlet. That would be the simplest to check first. I’ve seen the plug wires wiggle loose off the terminals during transport also.
I got it working!
In the electrical panel, there’s a few - are they breakers, or relays or what - that have a test and reset button. I had to play guess and check with them to get the reset in the correct position. That got the pump to run - so I figured it wasn’t a wiring/power issue.
Then I got the vise unstuck, clamped it on something, and the motor ran too! Cuts great, still needs a little TLC. Thanks guys!
