Howdy, y’all. Just one of those “hey wouldn’t it be cool if…” things I was thinking about the other day and it occurred to me the other day with how flat and stiff the Fireball tables are, and with the 3/4 tooling holes that run along the perimeter, would it be feasible to have linear rails for a CNC gantry that lock into to the sides of the fixture table and (with an appropriate spoil board or water pan) run a CNC router or plasma cutter? Avid CNC near Seattle (Large Format CNC Routers | Avid CNC) has a number of large format routers and if there was a kit (that matches the size of your table) you could turn your whatever size fixture table into a router table (granted with a bit of set up) and that’d be cool. Lot of additional options and if you’re space constrained that’s a good way to have the cake and eat it. I for one don’t really want to give up 50 square feet in the shop for a router table that. I know there’s a bunch of cabling and electronics, but I would imagine they can fit into a maybe a cart on wheels or something, or just as a box that could get stored underneath the table and appropriately shielded from dirt and debris, making use of appropriate connectors where necessary. Like I said, kind of a goofy idea but hey maybe there’s money to be made there, who knows?
Yes a gantry for the table would work nicely. Anything is possible.
