We just posted a video about how to unload, set up, and prepare to ship the new Fireball Rental Table. I wanted to walk you through some key steps to help you get the most out of your time with it and make sure it’s ready for the next shop when you’re done.
Unloading and Setup
We made it as easy as possible to get off the truck and onto your floor. There are fork pockets on all four sides, so whether you’ve got a narrow shop or a big open bay, you’ll have a way to lift it. Use the D-rings to pull it, don’t yank on the table itself.
Once it’s on the ground, pull off the bumpers (they’re held on with the same fasteners we use on the tables), roll up the rubber cover, and store them somewhere safe. You’ll need them when it’s time to ship it again.
Before you do anything else, inspect the tabletop. Take some photos and note any major damage. This helps us and the next guy in line know what to expect. We’re running this on the honor system, and we want to keep it clean and fair for everyone.
Getting to Working Height
Out of the box, the table sits at around 33 inches. You’ll want to raise it to your working height, typically about 35 inches, using the bolt-on jack legs. You’ll find a crank handle in the drawer; just attach it to the jack and start cranking. This thing weighs around 4,500 pounds, but the jacks make it much easier to adjust. Don’t use an impact driver because it will damage the jacks. Once it’s up, you can fine-tune your level by adjusting three of the four corners (leave one stationary).
Also, I wouldn’t recommend raising the table to its maximum height. It may feel good up close, but you’ll regret it when you’re trying to reach the middle of the table.
Tooling & Storage
All the tooling you need is stored in the side cabinets:
-
Fence blocks
-
Tooth blocks
-
Risers
-
Dozens of clamps
-
Pins, stops, push clamps, and more
Basically, the entire Fireball catalog is in there for you to try out.
Here’s my advice: set up your most-used tools on the side storage rails. You don’t want to be opening drawers all day. Stuff like clamps, fence blocks, drivers… load those up where you can grab them quickly. And the heavier tower blocks? Throw those on a cart if you’re using them often, no one wants to deadlift those every five minutes.
Cleaning
Before you ship the table, give it a wipe-down. A light mist of WD-40, a quick pass with a rag, and a brush through the holes goes a long way. We’re counting on everyone to treat this like a community tool. Please leave it better than you found it.
Now the cover gets rolled back on, the bumpers get bolted back in, and you’re good to go. No crate required. We’ve designed those bumpers to take forklift abuse without building some giant shipping box.
Forklifting 101
One last note: if you’re trying to pick this up from the end with a 5K forklift and 5’ forks, don’t bother you’ll probably bend your forks. Side-lift it or use two machines if that’s what you’ve got. Just respect the weight, and everything will go smoothly.
If you’ve got questions feel free to post them here. We want this rental program to be smooth, fast, and valuable for every shop that gets one of these tables.
