Fixture Table Configurations

I have a several frames that I’m going to be fabbing and I’m trying to determine the best size table or combination of tables to purchase. I don’t have the budget for one of the big boys so I was leaning towards a few dragon wagons and bolting them together. I have included a drawing of the frame on (3) of the 36 x 24 dragon wagons. The frames that I’m building are roughly 69" x 28" with a vertical of 29", all tubing. I don’t think i will have enough room to fixture on the 30 x 54 and i would still need to purchase at least two tables to get my length. I thought about (2) of the 54 x 54 DIY tables, but I think I want the sides for future projects and accessories. @Fireball_Jason can you help determine my best bang for buck. I will also need fixture tool suggestions. Thank you.

I had a similar problem with the frame I am fabricating. My budget was limited to 2 dragon wagons (though my frame is not as long as yours). One thing I did find is that ideally you need a buffer of space around the frame for fixtures. At least the first couple rows of holes (maybe more depending on the fixtures) need to be available on all 4 sides of the frame. From the picture it looks like you wouldn’t have room for fixtures in that config so keep that in mind. There are ways around it that I had to do. I had to build out from the center and shift the frame around, meaning parts of the frame hung off the side of the table. Not ideal or efficient though. They also have towers that can extend a small area of the table but those aren’t cheap either.

The end that I have flush up against the end of the table, i was thinking about one of the blocks you mentioned mounted to the side. I’m new to fixturing and hoping to get some good feedback and stay within budget. I can swing the 2 larger DIY, but that’s not want I want, lol.

The best way to extend out your tables to do something like this would be by spanning the gap with a tower block or take a piece of 1x2 tube and drill a couple 3/4 holes to align your table if it doesn’t need to be perfect. This is if you don’t have any critical parts of features that lay in the area between if you are using the tube extensions but the tower blocks give you all the holes in betwean.

Thanks for the suggestion Wyatt. My only concern there is that I would need to do some fixturing in the middle.

Thats the nice thing about using the tower blocks they have holes every 1" on center. Its what is demonstrated in the back of the picture I sent earlier.

@Fireball_Wyatt do you know when the 30 x 54 dragon wagons will be back in stock? I was thinking about the 54 x54 and joining the 30 x 54.

I dont keep up with stock numbers on the daily either @Fireball_Eli or @VC3 can get you an update monday on stock status.

Stock should be available by the end of the week at the latest. @GHMW If you would like you can send me a message and I can build out your order and get it processed for you. That way as soon as stock comes in your order will be one of the first to be allocated. Let me know!
