Squares in the wild

First post, 10 years industrial welder/fabricator. Just plumb ate up with these squares; got another CI fab pack ordered. Figured it’d be cool to see pics of the squares being used outside of a shop.

This is the beginning of the field assembly of all the prefab’d parts we made in the shop. It will be an arched steel structure with fiberglass lites on top over a pedestrian footbridge.

Looks great, you even got the Maximus clamps.

At this point I just tell anybody who talks to me about getting into welding to just go buy these squares. Even with my fixture table I really can’t imagine not having them, especially the Mega squares.

What thickness tubing did you go with for your Maximus clamps? Looks like you work on pretty stout stuff. Got my two sets in today and am headed to get some tubing for them this afternoon!

.120 wall is the best balance for weight, strength and price.

It’s fairly easy to bow a 2’+ piece of .120 wall when you’re really putting the beans to 'er, but for general clamp-a-latin, it’s dandy. I prefer solid bar but the apprentices bitch about weight lol All the HSST on this job was 3/8 or 1/2.
