Welding helmets

So for my personal use out side of school ive been using my grandad old fixed lens welding helmet and recently i picked up a esab savage auto darkening and it says i have to tune it with the brightness and delay so how do i tune it to make it work

If Delay means how long it takes to go from dark to light that is up to you. I would think 1 sec or less we would be OK
If brightness means the shade, that depends on what type of welding you doing. I normally set mine to 10 and hardly ever change it. I think everyone will use a slightly different setting
