Just got my table legs and accessories. Super excited for sure during assembly of the trays I was surprised that the box with the trays didn’t include a full set of new bolts for at least the bolt locations that require the spacer. Also side note I watched the video where Jason punishes these tables and I know he had full thread engagement to ensure striped holes weren’t the cause of the leg failure. I’m going to do some simple math here.
Supplied bolts are M12x30. Then we have a spacer that’s 9mm and a washer that’s 2.5mm call it 3 mm for simplicity and two brackets to hold the trays in place 4.5 mm again call it 5 mm for simplicity and the leg flange oh yea can’t forget the leg that just shy of 10 mm and you have a table that rolling around with a dry weight of 450 lbs with ? mm of thread engagement. I’ not mad I just can’t believe that 3 mm of thread engagement is ok for something that’s this heavy and your going to add weight to. My mind says that there should be at least 2 times the diameter of the fastener of thread engagement. I really don’t mind that the bolts that were supplied aren’t socket head cap screws. But for gods sake they need to be long enough to properly handle the recommended 30 ft lbs of torque. So in conclusion there are three bolts along each short side that are compromised and a total of 4 more on the long sides that have slightly more thread engagement and at the end of the day your left with exactly 1 (ONE) bolt that has slightly less that 20 mm of engagement to keep the whole system honest.
