Do you do this on your fixture table?

Why do stops need to be welded to a fixture table top? I see this type of fabrication on fixture tables all the time. Why buy a fixture table system if it’s not going to used as intended? Please help me understand why I keep seeing this practice.

don’t try to understand stupid.

In the case of this picture, I assume it’s because they have clamps that fit the holes, but didn’t buy any stops “because we can just tack angle iron where we need stops for almost no money.”

I’ve seen guys do it in shops where they only fab up one thing repeatedly. Totally defeats the purpose of a fixture table though. Just build jigs.
