Dragon wagon table flatness

This topic of table flatness came up in a recent conversation. So I’d thought it be a good discussion here. Recently I’ve shared a video comparing the siegmund 16 table to the Fireball dragon wagon on instagram. Some of the comments say that super flat table top is unnecessary.

So what’s your thoughts? Can I start making the dragon wagon less accurate.

Don’t water your “brand” down!

that video was real choppy for me so maybe I missed it. But when you checked the first table corner to corner you adjusted the legs and got it much closer on flatness.
Then you checked the other corner to corner and it was off. Could you have adjusted the legs on that one to get it closer?

Yeah the video moves fast to keep it under a minute long. But the Siegmund table has a high crown in the center. Unfortunately no amount of leg adjustment is going to remove it. The only way I’ve seen this problem fixed is to add a center leg or cable and pull it down to an anchor in the floor. This fix only works if the table is going to live in a permanent location.
There’s always a trade off in table design. Siegmund is choosing a hard surface knowing that it will warp during the heat treatment process.

So correct me if I am wrong but you got the crown out in one direction?
but not the other?
I can see that happening.

Sure it can. I’ve discovered that the Siegmund single cross design makes the table a flimsy noodle.
They have very little ribbing underneath the table. They flex or twist pretty easily with leg adjustments.
I can hide the crown in the center by flexing the table with opposite legs. But that makes the other diagonal measurement worse.

The Dragon wagon was designed to have very minimal twisting motion. This really helps keep the table flatter. Just look at all the ribs under the dragon wagon. It’s a much stiffer design.

Isn’t superior quality a major selling point for Fireball? Being “as good as” the next guy means you will probably sell more tables when you make your price close to theirs.

The dragon wagon is cheaper, larger, stronger and flatter than the siegmund. Also shipping isn’t all that much.

Yep, I looked hard at all of the comparable tables and the Dragon Wagon was hands down the best value. I’m very happy with mine. Curious about the $150 shipping: Is thaf for a 24X36 table top only? I paid a bit more than twice that for table, legs, and the basic fixture kit.

Yes table only

Thanks. The shipping and delivery were great, right on time and in good condition.

Do you keep inventory at your shop in Spokane that we can just stop by and pick up and save on shipping ?

Unfortunately no I don’t keep inventory in my shop.

I want to get a cover made for my dragon wagon, can i have your fireball logo put on it?

Absolutely go for it
