Hey guys -
Looking for some advice on an idea for my company’s new shop layout. We are a canopy manufacturer and currently build our product on the ground. We have steel angle anchored into our floor at 90 degree angles, in 10’ x 24’ spans. We use that angle to clamp our frames to and keep them square as we are welding out. I am wanting more versatility in our new space and was thinking about taking flat bar, cutting holes same as a fixture table, cutting an inset in the concrete and anchoring into the floor. This way we could set attachments to clamp off to and remove them whenever we want.
Anybody have any advice?
What about some anchor plats you could bolt to and build you a few pedestals with say 24 x 24 fixture plates on top of them all the same height so you don’t have to work on the ground so much, ?
I hadn’t thought about integrating a pedestal into the anchored plate idea. Definitely something I’ll be thinking about over the next couple weeks.
As to why we don’t build anything elevated right now… we’ve tried it several times and it completely kills our production speed and alot of guys just default back to building off the floor. I’ve seen the rail system tables and those would be perfect but way out of the budget.
Thanks for your input!
