Other shippers besides FedEx? They really suck, at least for me

Have you all thought about switching shipping companies or providing other options? I don’t know about others’ experiences with FedEx (maybe others will chime in here) but they are the worst for me.

Today I got a delivery of some clamps and the miter squares. I have a 200 foot driveway but it is concrete, easy to see, straight, etc. They left it in the snow at the end of the driveway by the street with a plastic bag that was almost off the box and gone with the wind. On the tracking they took a narrow view picture of it and it said, “left at the gated driveway”…. Our driveway isn’t gated.

UPS, Amazon, and all other delivery drivers have no problem bringing it up the driveway and either leaving it at the garage door or the porch. It’s just FedEx drivers that consistently don’t want to take it up the driveway and often will just straight up lie about some non-existent reason why they left it where they did. Is there a reason why FedEx is the only shipping option?

Not specifically for Fireball shipments, but FedEx sucks in the mountains of north Georgia. One time awhile back they left some Omaha Steaks at the bottom of our hill (1/2 mile from the destination) - IN AUGUST - but never called to say it was “delivered”. Many times they refused to drive up the hill to our house, returning the package to the shipper. The worst one was when they didn’t have enough packages to bother bringing anything up from middle GA to north GA - FOR 10 DAYS !! If a vendor refuses to ship by someone other than FedEx - I cancel the order

Agreed, if FedEx doesn’t change its policies, I think it will go out of business in the coming years. Their service to the receiving customer is absolutely horrible, and they lose more packages than they deliver. On top of that, they are pushing their drivers so hard that they seem to care very little about the rules of the road. In my area, they are always speeding, even on rural back roads and residential areas, and they’ve tried to run me off the road a few times now.
To your point about them leaving packages at the bottom of your driveway, I have the same issue, but my driveway is a through drive; they don’t even have to back up or turn around, and they still leave it at the bottom, where the wind or other influences take it away. I’ve even found packages that FedEx couldn’t even both to turn down my road, and left the box at the end of the road I live on

Bottom line, they all suck. USPS is great for letters, but horrible at delivering large items. UPS is the best of the three, but its quality depends on the driver and the day. But no one is as bad as FedEx, and personally, I refuse to give them my money whenever I have a choice.

FedEx freight is a different deal than the vans, you will get a LTL driver with a semi that hates residential delivery’s and they never call ahead and its hit and miss if they even put it on the truck that day.

A lot depends on if it is a commercial or residential address.

DHL is a great option except it usually adds an extra zero to the price.

Seems odd to me as im in ny and my fireball shipments always show up the day before what the tracking says it will, only time I have issues is when there is a weather problem?

I agree with your point. However, in my case, I do not receive freight at my home address. I live too far off of their normal routes, so freight is cost-prohibitive. And in my experiance their residental service is above average on the bad scale.

I think just even having another option would be good. If FedEx is currently your only option because they are the most cost effective, perhaps adding the next cost effective option, whether it is UPS, DHL, USPS, etc.
