Just an idea I am considering.. to buy only the 4.5’x4.5’ table top with shipping it’s over 6k, but less than 2k for 8 of the plates. and they are 3/4 thick, not 1/2". (the DIY pro table kits are basic steel, not cast, and only 1/2 thick) I understand that I would either end up with a 4x4 table, or would have to have some gaps, if I wanted to stretch out beyond exactly 4ft. I know the single piece table only needs legs, where as a diy table requires a frame/ support assembly, but surely I could do it for about $1000, saving about 3k. I also understand I may lose some flatness/ accuracy and also not have the side holes. I am not trying to directly compare the two, only asking if anyone has thought about, or done this. And any suggestions for plate placement and support structure. Thank you.
SpiderMonkey,
I have been working with a combo of different items and the 1’x2’ plates in conjunction with other fireball items are one of them I do have some ideas for you and will post some pictures and ideas tomorrow. I am very much on board with you for many reasons beyond the cost savings.
Cheers
