Here’s a first look at the new 2x4 clamp. This is an alternate to the popular 2x1 maximus clamp. This uses a 2x4 to make a long bar clamp. The 2x4 is easy to source around the shop or jobsite. You can push or pull with them also. The open 3 sided design allows the clamp to be slipped over the 2x4 mid length to avoid threading it over a warped or knotted board. The arm wedges itself onto the board at your desired location and stays there. This design feature helps with weird sizes of 2x4’s. There are holes provided on the side of the clamp for a set screw, screw, nail or bolt to be used to hold the arm in a permanent location if you want.
Cool idea! I like these, I may just have to add a set to my collection.
Great idea. Why the “screw driver type” handle instead of a T handle with sliding cross bar? Either way, with solid 2x4’s as long as 20 feet, this is a great addition. spliced together, as long as your environment allows. Long will allow for twisting and bending though, but sometimes light pressure is all you need.
We will have different handle options in the future. It’s really personal preference. The screwdriver handles are handy in certain conditions. Like any bar clamp the screw or handle isn’t the limiting force factor, it’s the bar spine material and design. You can easily max out a 2x4 with the screwdriver handle. Thread pitch and screw size play a roll in clamping forces
Sometimes I like the screwdriver handle for speed and clearance, and sometimes I like the T handle to get a little more oomph from my clamp. Here’s an idea for those screwdriver handles… is it possible to drill a hole in the screwdriver handle through the steel so that the end user could always put a long bolt and nut in there to have a T handle if they want one?
Dammit I wish I lived in the US to get all these nice tools.
