I was wondering if the magic square could achieve all the functionality of the mega, monster, mutant, and minion (if the bolt will actually resist the pulling forces). If so, would it be a good idea to just get two magic squares and a 3 axis square?
I feel like there is probably something I am missing and a mega square would be a good idea. So, would one mega, one magic square, and one 3 axis be a good combo? My thoughts are that using the magic square pieces individually could replace the minions, and the mega square has all the functionality and more compared to the monster and mutant. So, if i ever needed another square I could add one more mega for a total of 2.
Perhaps too general of an answer, but as with most tools, you will find uses and needs for additional tools over time. The magic squares are quite handy and if they meet your needs now, then great. I bought the fixed squares first then added on the magic squares for the ability to set odd angles. A lot depends on what you’re making now & it may make most economical sense to purchase them as you need or can afford rather than trying to predict the perfect tool for all your future use.

I shortened my original post to focus more on the functionality of the squares.
I have the older aluminum set of 4 small and large mega and monster squares that fireball first started selling and use them regularly. I also have both sizes of the magic squares. What i think you’ll find is setting it back to square every time you want to use it as a "square and not a special angle will get tedious. From a convenience stand point having the squares ready to use as soon as you grab would be what I would be looking at. Had the Mutant squares been available back then I would have bought them instead of the Monster for ease of getting to corners. Once you start using them you are gonna want at least 4. i would go 2 megas and 2 mutants, small and large sizes, and 1 magic to get started.
