I’m not interested in the bottom end Amazon/Hobo Freight tier. My minimum requirements are the cutting axis centered on the clamp without shimming, bearings that aren’t going to beat themselves to death, and vise or bench mountable.
Thanks for that. It looks like there are several different interesting designs in that general price range. These guys are local, so that’s probably what I’ll end up going with.

Thanks for the feedback. That was also high on my list, but I ended up going with the Eastwood Pro notcher since they were blowing them out at $250. It seems pretty adequate for my limited needs, orders of magnitude more solid than the department store/amazon trash. The lack of vertical adjustment gave me pause, but it seems well-centered on the vise. There’s not a convenient way to confirm the accuracy of the angle marks, but this thing will pretty much live at 90 degrees which was easy to check. There’s a tiny bit of run out in the bearing/shaft interface that didn’t appear to affect the quality or accuracy of a test cut.
